Process and sustainability
All KAIHŌ pieces are made by hand using the ancient technique of lost wax casting. I hand carve the original design from wax, which is then cast into a solid metal model. A mould is made from that model, and multiple pieces are cast in silver or gold from the mould. Each piece is then filed, polished and assembled by hand before it's ready to be worn.
I keep production as sustainable as I can and I'm still finding ways to do better. The silver and gold I use are mostly recycled and refined and cast locally in Norway. I make pieces to order or in small batches, and mainly use recycled packaging and shipping materials.
Silver and gold don't degrade, so a piece is meant to last for years. If something ever needs repair or repolishing, just get in touch.
